Business Valuations Methodologies
When conducting business valuations, Katz & Co., P.A. employs the most appropriate approach based on the purpose of the business valuations. The three main approaches include:
- Income Approach
- Market Approach
- Asset-Based Approach
With each of these approaches, it is important to note that a company’s value may need to be adjusted for discounts and/or premiums. While business valuation is not an exact science, with different evaluation methods returning different values based on the same information, it is critical that the evaluator has proper financial statements, current real estate appraisals (where necessary) from a reputable and independent company, and access to historical tax returns.
